The 16th European Conference on Surface Crystallography and Dynamics (ECSCD) and the 14th International Conference on the Structure of Surfaces (ICSOS) will be held jointly at TU Wien in Vienna. Since their inception in the 1980s, these conferences have become key meeting points for the surface science community.

The 2025 edition will focus on recent advances in the characterization of surface structure and dynamical processes at the atomic scale, covering topics such as 2D materials, single molecules on surfaces, LEEM, PEEM, and LEED-IV, oxides, and solid–liquid interfaces.

The event is supported by MECS (Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage), whose mission to foster interdisciplinary collaboration in materials science aligns closely with the conference’s goals.

A free satellite workshop on surface structure determination using LEED I(V) with the ViPErLEED package will follow on June 6–7.
